Tributum Newsletter #22

Hello

Can you believe it, the end of 2020 is in sight? That means that the start of 2021 is also in sight and the question is, what will be different next year? I don’t mean just COVID, I mean what are you going to change? Let’s face it, we all have something that needs to change. You know, that thing you keep doing like always and expecting a different result? If its not giving the results you want or need, then change what and how you do it.

But that is enough serious talk for now. At the end of what has been a difficult year I thought to lighten up the newsletter with my ID 10T awards. For those wondering, ID 10T = IDIOT. And before you say I will be judgmental and discriminate please know that I accept that I will be someone else’s IDIOT. In fact, sometimes I am my own biggest IDIOT. So here goes…

Traffic. It’s not the driving that kills me (well, almost literally sometimes), but what people do in their cars. Strap that kid into his seat! It’s not OK for him to be standing on it. If you think it is, do the global gene pool a favour and drive into the nearest wall head on. The world needs the space, not more IDIOTS. Don’t text and drive. How will you see that IDIOT in front of you with the kid standing on the back seat suddenly braking for that dog crossing the road? Do the world’s gene pool a favour and drive into the back of them, hard. Two birds with one stone.

People who walk their dogs without leashes. IDIOTS – the fact that your dog is trained does not mean mine is (I know- I’m an IDIOT). Also, you have IDIOTS with their kids running around on the backseat driving in your neighbourhood followed by IDIOTS who text while driving. That is not safe for your animal.

Elevators and escalators. The person behind you may know where they want to go even if you don’t. So, don’t stop in the elevator door or at the top of the escalator and then only decide whether its left, right or straight on. MOVE. Make some space for the person behind you. After all, you had at least one floor to think about it.

Parking lots. These are not the DAKAR route, slow down IDIOT. There are children and old people walking, as well as other IDIOTS who have their kids running around on the back seat or who are texting while they are pulling out of a parking. Also, don’t stop and wait for a parking to open when you can see a perfectly good spot 30 meters away. Don’t make the cars queue up behind you IDIOT. Also, the exercise may do you wonders…

Finally, masks. This is a new one for 2020. It should cover your nose and mouth. If health care workers can wear it for entire shifts and breath, then people can do that for their 2 hours shopping trip, IDIOTs. I know it’s difficult to speak through the mask, but maybe what they have to say is not that important anyway.

For my readers (none of whom are IDIOTS) I wish you as good a festive season as you can make it. Rest, recuperate, recharge your batteries and get ready for 2021. Most importantly, stay safe, stay healthy. Or better yet, stay home.

That way you will be safe from other IDIOTS at the shopping malls who don’t wear their masks properly and don’t know where to go once the escalator reaches the top and you also don’t have to share roads with IDIOTS who text and drive and who follow IDIOTS driving with their kids running around on the backseat who are required to make an emergency stop because another IDIOT does not have his dog on a leash. Until 2021.
